New Jersey born artist Gary T. Erbe is a self-taught painter with tremendous vision. From early on, Gary T. Erbe drew and sketched portraits, conventional still lifes, impressionistic landscapes, collage compositions and “trompe l’oeil” paintings.
Unwilling to follow in the footsteps of the classic “trompe l’oeil” artists, he needed to forge his own path. Gary T. Erbe combined “trompe l’oeil” with floating the objects of a composition in space as a fondation for his work. Gary T. Erbe became a pioneer of his own painting style that he calls "Levitational Realism".
Gary T. Erbe has exhibited his paintings extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Gary T. Erbe has won many awards including the Audubon Artists Gold Medal, The Butler Institute of American Art National Mid-Year First Place Award, The National Arts Club First Prize and the Allied Artists of America Gold Medal. He is a member of many organizations and societies including The National Arts Club, the Salmagundi Club, and Allied Artists of America.
Gary T. Erbe’s work can be found in many public and private collections throughout the world.
